Video editor Carolyn Moore presents films from the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. The museum, which opened to critical acclaim in December 2017, is the first state-funded civil rights museum and deals unflinchingly with the issues of racism and violence in Mississippi. Carolyn, who collaborated on the museum’s exhibits with her colleagues at Monadnock Media, will show four short films – Separate But Equal, The Murder of Emmett Till, Chaney, Goodman, Schwerner and Freedom Summer. These wrenching stories depict struggles with school integration; the murder of Emmett Till; the murders of Chaney, Goodman, and Schwerner; and the events of Freedom Summer in 1964. But amidst the suffering, at the heart of the museum, a light- and music-filled gallery attests to the beauty of the human spirit, and begs the question: What do I take a stand for? Carolyn Moore lives in both Newburyport and Greenfield and has been editing programs for museums at Monadnock Media for over 20 years.
