Peaceful Communication - AVP Introductory Evening @ Amesbury Friends Meeting | Amesbury | Massachusetts | United States

Amesbury Friends member Em McManamy and Friend Kathy Desilets are the facilitators of this 2-hour event that is an introduction to the Alternatives to Violence Project Training. Want to learn more about peaceful communication strategies? AVP is a tried and true method that’s been used for over 40 years, originally developed by Quaker organizers in conjunction with prisoners at Green Haven Prison after riots in 1975. AVP is a volunteer program offered throughout the US and internationally. It enables participants to deal with aggressive and potentially violent situations in new and creative ways. The experiential workshops use the shared experiences of participants, interactive exercises, games, and role plays to examine the ways in which we respond to situations where injustice, prejudice, frustration, and anger can lead to aggressive behavior and violence. Open to the public. Please RSVP 978-314-7453.
